It has been quite a long time since the last post and a great deal has taken place. The building is relatively protected from the elements but we are not quite there yet. The siding will define the end of the main exterior work. It is looking like the exterior covering will be pine with a vertical application.
One of the challenges with this building is the height. This has prompted some re-thinking around how to finish the river side of the building. Climbing a ladder on the temporary main floor deck to install soffit material raised my heart rate each time up the ladder. Anyone with vertigo troubles would likely not try this. When you need need one hand to hold the material, one hand for a drill or hammer and another to hold onto the ladder, thing just don't add up. This brings the idea of "letting go" to a different level. Instead of building a roof over the main floor deck, a second floor deck seems to make more sense....almost as much sense as living longer without breaking any more bones, or just living longer. A patio door on the second floor and a deck rather than a roof makes more sense to me now from both a practical and aesthetic point of view.
