House wrapping for the main floor was a piece of cake. The second floor end walls are another matter. The remaining wall in this image represents considerable trips up and down the ladder. There is another window to add for the bathroom. The upper section will be strapped with 2 x 4 and and the lower section with 1 x 4. This will allow for completing the vertical siding in 2 sections. The top section will have a slight outset (3/4"). This will offer a visual break in the wall and reduce moisture running down the siding.
River side wall
This wall is a loooonnng way up the ladder. I decided that completing the soffit all the way up from the main floor deck was a rather precarious procedure. Completing the house wrap beneath the soffit can wait as well. Rather than building a roof over the main floor deck, a second floor deck is making more sense. This way it will be much easier to apply the wrap, siding and finish the soffits. The added benefit will be a door opening onto a second floor deck. The second floor deck will cost almost the same as a roof and offer a spectacular space overlooking the river.
The long awaited picture window
The picture window was ordered in January, arrived in March, disappeared from the lumber store warehouse, re-ordered and never did arrive. The solution was to find a slightly larger window in the warehouse. It took the better part of a day to re-size the opening but it was well worth the effort in the end.
